In the news this week...

There seems to be a lot of weather at the moment… Some of our pupils are sharing their thoughts about what being outside means to them.

At breaks and lunch times we go on the monkey bars and the trim trail. Sometimes we use the tennis racquets and balls that are stored in the play cupboard in the playground.

At one end of the playground, Year 5 Sports Leaders have been trained By Mr Mawn (Physical Literacy Leader) to play games with the Key Stage 1 children. When we are in Year 5 we would like to do this.

Sometimes we go on the field when it is sunny and we play football. Some people make daisy chains. Near the forest there is a big patch of daisies and there are smaller patches scattered across the field.

At the moment most of the field is waterlogged so we are not using it, but we will when it dries out a bit. The path is okay to use, and we are using this to run our Launton Laps. We are really looking forward to the Cross Country finals that have been rescheduled to 13th February. We have maps of our grounds around the school with little symbols showing which areas are open to use and these have green symbols. When it is a wet break, the symbol is a raincloud.

We really like being able to go outside in the fresh air because it is interesting to see what everyone is doing, and being outside makes us feel calm.

We have been watching for birds in our garden. We saw the most pigeons. They went to the field and they went to the trees and they went to the trees then they went back to the field. We got a certificate from the Big Schools Birdwatch because we did very good birdwatching. We tried very hard. I love nature a lot. And I do too. We use binoculars so that we can see the birds closer.
