In the news this week from EYFS…

This term has been very exciting for Ash class. We have started our Forest School sessions with Mrs Cross. We have also started our Welly Wednesdays, where we bring in our wellingtons and go for a welly walk around the school. We have enjoyed splashing in puddles and exploring some different parts on the school.

In addition, we have noticed that many birds visit us in Ash garden. This has made us curious to find out more and has sparked a big interest. To find out more, we have been bird spotting in the garden using binoculars and British bird identification sheets. We have identified lots of different birds that fly over our garden and have noticed that Magpies, Blackbirds, Crows, and a Robin visit our garden frequently.

We have also read a special book called ‘Songs of the Birds’ that allows us to hear each bird’s call and song. This has helped us to know which birds are visiting the garden or are close by. To help us remember what different birds look like we have drawn pictures and labelled them. We have also started to record how many of each bird visit our garden by keeping a tally chart. To encourage birds to visit our gardens at home, we have made bird feeders using lard and bird seed.

Thank you to everyone who has sent pre-loved books to school for the Book Sale. Children enjoyed the book-themed morning with their Forest Buddies. During the afternoon there will be an exhibition in the hall of the children’s potato characters. The exhibition will be open for you to visit with your children at 3.15pm; entry will be via the front garden, where you will also find the Book Sale. If you are collecting children from Multiskills at 4.15pm and would like to look at the exhibition with your child, please do so when you collect your child from the front garden when the club ends.

Message from the PTA

Thank you to everyone who had already volunteered to help with delivering leaflets and collecting easter egg donations around the village.

We are still short on volunteers for egg collection. If you are free on the evening of Friday the 28th March to help collect the eggs then please get in touch with the PTA. This is a fun job which the children love to get involved with so do sign up.

Thank you also to everyone who donated clothes for the Rags2Riches collection last Monday. We collected 21 bags in total which will go to help people in other countries in need of affordable clothing, and we will receive a cash donation for the school.
