Message from Ms Walker
I hope all our families had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and enjoyed the extra time together. Although the weather has been a little colder this week, the children have still been making the most of breaktimes and enjoying the full range of activities on offer.
This week's news is from Beech Class
Beech Class have been growing lots and lots of plants so that we can sell them and raise money for charity.
Before Easter, we sowed the seeds. Then, when they had grown, we put the plants into bigger pots.
We grew tomatoes, pumpkins, strawberries, courgettes.
We also grew watermelons, butternut squash and house plants.
By growing these plants, our customers can grow their own fresh food.
The plants grew well in the polytunnel and school house because they are both warm places.
We have kept some of the watermelon plants to grow in the polytunnel. We are hoping for lots of delicious watermelons.
We are learning about plants in science, so it was very helpful to grow so many.
On Tuesday the 5th of May, everyone in Beech Class helped at the plant sale.
Some of our customers bought so many plants that we used up all of the boxes we had available.
In maths on Thursday, we all counted the money. All of the notes and coins added up to £211.
Since we raised quite a lot of money, we might send it to two different charities. We will write letters to the charities as well.
Thank you to all the people who bought some plants.
Summer, Maxwell, Susanna, Harrison, Freddie, Beatrice, Max, Lara, Thomas, Dallas, Casper, Beatrix, and Annabelle.
Sharing Our Community’s Talents
At our school, we know that some of the richest learning experiences come from the people within our own community. We would love to welcome parents, carers, and family members into school to share their skills, interests, experiences, and talents with the children.
Whether you play a musical instrument, speak another language, have an interesting profession, enjoy cooking, art, gardening, storytelling, sport, or would like to talk about your culture or traditions, we would be delighted to hear from you. Even a short visit can inspire curiosity, broaden children’s understanding of the world, and make learning even more memorable.
If you feel you could contribute in any way, please contact the school office or speak to your child’s class teacher. We are always grateful for the support and enthusiasm of our wonderful school community.
Y6 Bake Sale
Year 6 will be holding a bake sale on Thursday 21st May at 3:15pm to raise money for their leavers’ trip. We would greatly appreciate any donations of baked goods to help support this event. Please ensure that all items are nut-free, as we are a nut-free school. Thank you for your support!
Updates & Reminders
Safety
A friendly reminder to all parents and carers: children in Year 4 and below must be accompanied onto the school site by an adult and should not be dropped off to walk in alone. This applies to all arrivals, including Breakfast Club and late arrivals to school.
Children in Years 5 and 6 may arrive unaccompanied if they have permission from their parents/carers; however, they must not be responsible for bringing younger siblings onto the school site.
The Parish Hall car park and surrounding area present significant challenges. Please do not park on the corner, obscuring the view round the bend, as this is dangerous: this is not a safe space to leave a vehicle. Please supervise young children closely in this area.
Allergies
Just a reminder we have children in school with serious allergies please do not send your child in with items containing nuts, this includes chocolate spread, peanut butter and products containing a chocolate filling like Nutella or chocolate bars containing nuts. We have had a few occasions recently where we have found items have been sent into school in packed lunches which contain nuts.
