Message from Ms Walker

It was wonderful to see so many families join us for this year's Sports Day. The children took part in a range of track races, demonstrating great enthusiasm and determination throughout the morning. It was particularly pleasing to see them living out our school values of compassion, resilience and courage—encouraging one another, persevering when challenges arose and celebrating each other's achievements. It was a fantastic opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate the children's efforts and successes. A huge thank you goes to all of the staff for their hard work in preparing and running the event so smoothly. A special mention must go to Mrs Heath, our PE Lead, for coordinating such a fantastic Sports Day and helping to make it such a memorable occasion for everyone involved

This week's news is from Oak Class (Year 6)

Transition Days by Year 6

We have now all had the chance to visit our new secondary schools for our transition days. It was a really exciting experience and we enjoyed exploring our new schools. Some of us met our new form tutors and found out where some of our lessons will take place in September.

Everyone we met were kind, friendly and helpful, which made us feel welcome straight away. Visiting our new schools has made us feel excited, more confident and ready for the next step in our learning journey.

Although our time at Launton School is coming to an end, we are looking forward to starting an exciting new chapter. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff and the wider community at Launton School for guiding, supporting and encouraging us throughout our primary years.

We may still feel a little nervous, but we will take our school value of courage with us as we begin our secondary school adventure.

The Book Fair

Thank you to everyone who attended the School Book Fair. We are pleased to announce, that thanks to your purchases you have raised £291! This money will be used to purchase books for our frequent reader awards. If you read with your child five times a week they are awarded a star sticker for their reading journey as well as a raffle ticket. At the end of each term we hold a frequent reading raffle ticket assembly. Raffle tickets are drawn out for each class and the winner is able to choose a displayed book with a bespoke written message from the Headteacher. Please keep recording reading as it could be your child that could win.

The Big Future – Have Your Child’s Voice Heard

The Children’s Commissioner for England is inviting children and young people to take part in The Big Future, a national survey about their lives, experiences and hopes for the future. This is a great opportunity for children to share what matters to them and help ensure that young people’s voices are heard.

Please encourage your child to take part before the end of term by visiting:

Updates & Reminders

Library Books

As we approach the end of term, please could we ask all families to have a look at home for any school library books that may have been borrowed. Returning books before the end of term helps us keep our library well stocked and ready for everyone to enjoy next year. Thank you for your support!

Allergies

Just a reminder we have children in school with serious allergies please do not send your child in with items containing nuts, this includes chocolate spread, peanut butter and products containing a chocolate filling like Nutella or chocolate bars containing nuts. We have had a few occasions recently where we have found items have been sent into school in packed lunches which contain nuts.

Safety

A friendly reminder to all parents and carers: children in Year 4 and below must be accompanied onto the school site by an adult and should not be dropped off to walk in alone. This applies to all arrivals, including Breakfast Club and late arrivals to school.

Children in Years 5 and 6 may arrive unaccompanied if they have permission from their parents/carers; however, they must not be responsible for bringing younger siblings onto the school site.

The Parish Hall car park and surrounding area present significant challenges. Please do not park on the corner, obscuring the view round the bend, as this is dangerous: this is not a safe space to leave a vehicle. Please supervise young children closely in this area.
