Message from Ms Walker
We have had another wonderful week at school, with lots of exciting learning opportunities, activities and achievements taking place across all year groups. It has been a pleasure to see the children so engaged and enthusiastic in everything they do. Looking ahead, the weather forecast suggests that temperatures are going to be extremely hot next week. Please ensure that your child comes to school each day with a named sun hat and that sun cream is applied before they arrive. We will continue to encourage regular water breaks and make use of shaded areas wherever possible to help everyone stay safe and comfortable in the heat.
This week's news is from Beech Class (Year 3)
Computing
We have started to make code for Micro: bits. Micro: bits are pocket computers. Last week we turned them into name badges.
“There are 25 LEDS that light up, making one letter at a time.” Beatrix
We are looking forward to our next computing project this afternoon.
Design Technology
In D.T we made pitta pockets or wraps. The challenge was to choose as many different colour ingredients as possible and ‘eat a rainbow’. We picked one protein option and three or more vegetables.
“I had five different vegetables in mine: cress, lettuce, pea shoots, carrot and cucumber.” Beatrice.
“I chose carrots, lettuce, mozzarella and peppers.” Maisie
“We had different types of cheese to choose from.” Aphaia
English
We are reading Anansi does the impossible. We acted out the whole story.
“It was fun because we got parts, like a proper play. “Lara
“We practised first, so we knew our parts really well. “Dakota
Anansi is set three impossible tasks – but manages to achieve them all.
Please see details below of some events that are coming up.
Updates & Reminders
Allergies
Just a reminder we have children in school with serious allergies please do not send your child in with items containing nuts, this includes chocolate spread, peanut butter and products containing a chocolate filling like Nutella or chocolate bars containing nuts. We have had a few occasions recently where we have found items have been sent into school in packed lunches which contain nuts.
Safety
A friendly reminder to all parents and carers: children in Year 4 and below must be accompanied onto the school site by an adult and should not be dropped off to walk in alone. This applies to all arrivals, including Breakfast Club and late arrivals to school.
Children in Years 5 and 6 may arrive unaccompanied if they have permission from their parents/carers; however, they must not be responsible for bringing younger siblings onto the school site.
The Parish Hall car park and surrounding area present significant challenges. Please do not park on the corner, obscuring the view round the bend, as this is dangerous: this is not a safe space to leave a vehicle. Please supervise young children closely in this area.
